IOSH Directing Safely

Health and safety needs to permeate throughout a workplace or institution to become second nature to everyone. This is the only way to make any workplace totally safe to work in and so this course is aimed at senior management and Board level directors to help them enhance their current understanding of the issue. IOSH Training courses are internationally recognized and suit those responsible for the accurate recording of all evidence of health and safety compliance in their company.

Course Content

This course covers the following areas:

  • Strategic health and safety management with regards to other business systems
  • The statutory duties of directors and employers
  • Risk assessment, including past histories and good practice for planning prevention
  • How poor health and safety management can be detrimental to a company as a whole and employees in particular
  • Effective recruitment and minimising human error
  • Setting up effective lines of communication and consultation
  • Performance monitoring to maintain and improve health and safety management

Training Method

This one day course is taught exclusively in the classroom and consists of a PowerPoint presentation. At the end of the lectures, a multiple choice test and a short practical assessment is undertaken by each attendee. Those successfully completing the assessment will be awarded an accredited IOSH (Institute of Occupational Safety and Health) certificate for Directing Safely. This course meets the criteria for a CITB grant and Safe Life will give full support for anyone wishing to apply.
